SMVDU Students attend Swachh Iconic places Conclave

Katra, Apr 25: 25 NSS Volunteers of SMVDU participated in the multi-stakeholders’ meet focusing on cleaning up 100 places in the country on the experiences from the 10 Swachh Iconic Places already identified, one of which is Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The meet held on 25th April at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super-specialty Hospital at 11.00 am with auspicious presence of Governor Sh. N. N. Vohra, Dr.Jitendra Singh MoS, PMO, Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Minister, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Secretary of the same ministry Sh. Parameswaran Iyer, MLA Sh. Ajay Nanda, CEO Shrine Board Sh. Ajeet Kumar Sahu and other dignitaries from other Iconic Places like Manikarnika Varanasi, Kamakhya Temple, Ajmer Sharif etc. The main objective of the meet was to review the working of the Iconic Places and to share the experiences for future betterment. Secretary Sh. Parameswaran Iyer presented a brief progress report on the Swachh Iconic Places.
Hon’ble Minister, Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar further announced the next 10 Iconic Places for the same objective which include Gangotri, Yamunotri, Charminar, Kaladi etc. to quote a few. It is pertinent to mention that Sh. N. N. Vohra, Governor, J&K State highlighted that we need to inculcate among people the habit of cleanliness and the crucial factor is to use suitable and latest technology for cleaning and waste management so as to make the Iconic Places example for inspiration. The students’ team from SMVDU was led by Dr. V. K. Tripathi, Nodal officer Swachh Bharat SMVDU and Mr. Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Coordinator NSS. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Saurabh, Asst. Professor School of Business.
