Flood water enters houses, as Drumra Nallah breaches

Doda, April 24: In the recent heavy rainfall that occured yesterday evening, heavy rain causes havoc in Mohalla Irfan Abad of Doda Town where flood water from Drumra Nallah passing through this locality enters the residential houses as well as agricultural land of its inhabitants.
As per reports, last night due to heavy rainfall, flooded water from Drumra Nallah passing through Mohalla Irfan Abad enters in to residential house, totally exposing the tall claims of UEED (A wing of Housing and Urban Development) as due to choked Nallah, the rain water entered into many residential houses of Mohallah Irfan Abad including Javed Khora, Attaullah Tramboo, Gh Nabi Patigaroo and Mohd Ashraf Butt, causing extensive damage to their property and agricultural land.
One of the the local Faizan A Tramboo alleged that despite repeated requests and reminders to the concerned Department as well as District Administration, the Drumra Nallah passing through Irfan Abad Doda was not cleared since decades due to which the inhabitants are facing great inconvenience. Tramboo further alleged that i have approached several times before Distt Administration and Concerned UEED regarding raising of protection wall and cleaning of Nallah but sofar nobody listen to our grievances as during rainfall or winter season, hundreds of families have been affected with the rain and flood water from this Nallah.
The dirt and filth of the Drumra Nallah spreads all over the locality of Mohalla Irfan Abad due to which there is apprehension of spreading of various epedemic diseases, said Moosa Azad.
The people of this area have been facing great inconvenience since long due to the failure of the UEED wing of the Housing and Urban Development to repair this damaged and uncovered Nallah despite many requests and reminders to them.
Scores of time, we have approached the concerned department about this grave problem but the department has not laid any focus on its repair thereby putting the inhabitants to inconvenience, said Mohd Ashraf Butt.
However, reports are also pouring in from other areas of the Doda Town where rain water also entered into residential houses.
The public of Doda has urged upon Dy CM, District Administration and concerned UEED to depute immediately their teams to access the loss occured and cleared the Nallah at an earliest so as to avert further damage besides they have appealed to raise the wall of Nallah nearby residential areas and comensate the affected families at an earliest besides the inhabitants demanded immediate construction of retaining cum protection wall of centuries old Drumra Nallah.
