JMC enhanced IEC for segregation and Door to Door Collection Campaign

Jammu, Apr 24: Under the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Mission and on the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh, (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, organized IEC (Information Education and Behavior Change Campaign) and distributed dustbins to the shopkeepers and households at High Court and Bhawani Nagar area ward no. 36. The households dustbins were distributed in two colours i.e. Blue & Green for segregation. On this occasion Sh. Kasturi Lal President Market Associations High Court and other office bearers were also present.
The Joint Commissioner (A) JMC apprised the Shopkeepers association at High Court that these dustbins are distributed to each and every shopkeeper so that they can collect their garbage in these dustbins and the JMC worker will dispose of the garbage or they can also individually disposed in nearby containers. This will give neat and clean look in and around the vicinity of their shops.
Speaking at the other location at Bhawani Nagar where household dustbins in two different colours were distributed (green bin for biodegradable wet waste and blue bin for non-biodegradable dry waste). This initiative has been taken so that the source segregation shall be start at the earliest. He appealed the residents that now it is their responsibility to segregate the garbage properly for further disposal. He also appealed the residents to start the compost at their premises and used the compost in their lawns.
The Health Officer apprised the residents that the segregation is compulsory under guidelines of SBM so it is responsibility of every citizen to segregate waste at source. This will also reduce quantity of garbage being lifted and dumped by the Corporations at dumping site. The Officers also appealed the residents of the locality to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and segregate the 100% garbage for further disposal.
While speaking on the occasion Sh. Kasturi Lal President Market Associations High Court appreciated the steps taken by the Jammu Municipal Corporation to make the Jammu clean and green. He also appealed the residents to segregate the garbage in two different bins provided by the Jammu Municipal Corporation and assured their full cooperation to the Jammu Municipal Corporation for the success of swachh bharat mission a big initiative taken by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
The residents welfare committee Bhawani Nagar also appreciated the steps being taken by the Jammu Municipal Corporation under Swachh Bharat Mission for segregation of waste door to door collection etc. The representatives of the Bhawani Nagar Welfare committee Dr. Agnishekar, Sh. C.L. Kana, S.K. Bhat, Madan Lal, Rahul Gupta , Sham Parkash, C.L. Koul, Nagar Mal, Y.P. Sambyal, etc. were also present.
