Poonch admn discusses arrangements for Baisakhi Festival

POONCH MARCH 29: To make the arrangements for celebration of Baisakhi Festival, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Harun today convened a joint meeting of officers, civil society members and members of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee here today.
Superintendent of Police Rajiv Panday, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gurvinderjeet Singh, Assistant commissioner revenue Ashraf Chudhary, Transport officer besides other district officers, representatives of different religious organizations and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
Arrangements pertaining to security, maintenance of law and order, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, cleanliness around the Gurudwaras, particularly at Nangali Shaib were discussed in detail.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the arrangements are made well in time. The Municipal authorities were directed to ensure cleanliness and install flood light around the Gurudwara Nangali Shaib .
Police department has been asked to make appropriate security arrangements for congregations being held during the festival days. Health department was asked to depute team of doctors for the scarred days.
Earlier the representatives of Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Nangali Shaib informed the meeting about several demands . The DC Poonch assured early resolution of their demands.
The PDD and PHE authorities were asked to ensure un-interrupted power and water supply. Necessary instructions were also passed to the officers of PWD, Transport, Health, CA&PD departments.
Pertinent to mention here that the Baisakhi Festival is celebrated with great zeal and religious fervor by Sikh community in Poonch. A grand Baisakhi Mela is held on the day at Gurudwara Nangali Shaib where pilgrims from across northern India come to pay obeisance .
