Security beefed up in Jammu as Navratras begins

Jammu, Mar 28: Tight security has been put in place as nine-day long navratras begin here tomorrow with fanfare.
Meanwhile in the wake of cop’s weapon snatching incident, the security grid has been further enhanced to prevent any untoward like incident.
"Elaborate security arrangements has been made for Navratras ,’’ S D Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone here told mediapersons at the sidelines of a function.
He said that in Katra sufficient deployment of police and para-military forces was made while the men are also manning the 13 kms track and the Katra town.
"Though there are no specific inputs regarding any particular terror threat on important occasions, such events are always challenge for Jammu Police,’’ said the IGP.
Moreover security check points have been enhanced in the winter capital besides night patrolling has been increased in the bordering belts.
Meanwhile Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has made elaborate arrangements for the larger number of pilgrims who are likely to visit the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi during Navratras.
These arrangements include ensuring proper water and power supply along the Track leading to the Shrine, sanitation and availability of special fast related food at the Bhojanalayas of the Shrine Board and the security.
