December 16 gangrape: Apex Court reserves order

New Delhi, Mar 27: The Supreme Court today reserved judgement on appeals against capital punishment filed by the four convicts in the brutal December 16 gangrape case, that had sent ripples of shock across the nation.

Akshay, Pawan, Vinay and Mukesh Singh had moved the apex court against the Delhi High Court order which had sentenced them to the gallows after keeping in view the fact that it was a rarest of the rare case. "The Apex Court today reserved the Judgement on the December 16 gangrape Case," Siddhartha Luthra, counsel for Delhi police said.

A three-judge bench of the Apex Court headed by Justice Dipak Misra, also comprising Justices R. Banumathi and Ashok Bhushan, heard the case in detail. Mr Luthra sought death penalty for all the four convicts.
