PM's visit could influence Kashmir elections: Cong

SRINAGAR: Pradesh Congress Committee Chief and candidate of NC -Congress for Anantnag parliamentary seat G A Mir on Saturday questioned Prime Minister Narendar Modi's Jammu and Kashmir visit to inaugurate Chenani-Nashri ahead of parliamentary by-polls. Addressing a workers convention in Shangus areas of Anantnag district, Mir said that termed the inauguration of tunnel by Modi as political stunt. " Elections are around and why Prime Minister chose to inaugurate the tunnel at a time," he said.
The polls for Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary seats are slated for April, 9 and April 12.Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Chenani-Nashri tunnel on JK highway on April 2. He will also address a public rally after the inauguration of the tunnel.
The senior politician said that tunnel project was completed way back. "He could inaugurated the tunnel after elections," he said.
Mir also accused the ruling PDP of using state machinery to lure voters. He said Congress workers on ground have informed us that administration is sanctioning IAY sheds to people in some villages. He asked the workers ," Mir to remain vigilant.
He also cautioned the people against the attempts are being made to divide people to secure votes on the part of PDP. "People will not vote for PDP now, as this Party has already betrayed and backstabbed them in 2014 t by aligning with BJP."
Accusing PDP of misleading people on sensitive issues, Mir reminded the people of the PDPs electioneering in 2014 Assembly Elections and cautioned against the political gimmicks of this party, which has again started befooling people for securing votes from them, he warned that vote to PDP is vote to Communal Forces, who are responsible for insecurity and deep alienation among the people, particularly in valley.
He said PDP which is squarely responsible for the damages caused to life and property in the Valley will not be able mislead people for electoral gains any longer, as the people have realized that PDP can't be trusted any more, for the fact, this party has made compromises on the urges and aspiration of the people.
He said the unholy alliance between these two parties for the sake of power disturbed the socio-political scenario in the State, as a result, people are feeling unsafe and threatened. He cautioned against the designs of PDP BJP Coalition, which is being run through remote control from RSS Headquarter.
