DC Samba launches ‘Swachh Shakti Saptah’

SAMBA, MARCH 01: District Administration Samba today organized an impressive function at Panchayat Katli to launch nationwide, “Swachh Shakti Saptah” to honor the women sanitation champions in its drive to declare Samba District as Open Defecation free district. The function was presided over by District Development Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda.
The families namely Boli Devi widow of Satpal, Ratno Devi Chanchalo Devi w/o Darshan Lal, Santosh Devi w/o Rattan Singh Ramesh Lal s/o Kaka Ram, Yashpal s/o Isher Dass were motivated during the conduct of CLTS training programme in district samba to stop open defecation and construct toilet units at their homes. The families have finally completed their toilets and were awarded appreciation certificates by the District Administration and requested them to be Swachhta Doots and contribute in making this Panchayat open defecation free by the end of this march.
An awareness programme on Sanitation was also organized wherein a detailed Do’s and Don’t’s as to Sanitation, cleanliness Solid waste management and polythene ban was presented by Aijaz Qaiser, District Panchayat Officer Samba. The purpose of this programme was to generate awareness and motivate people to adopt Sanitation & Cleanliness as a way of life and to publically encourage all those who have contributed to the overall objectives of Swachh Bharat mission.
