Sanitation week begins in Baramulla
BARAMULLA, MARCH 01: A weeklong sanitation drive with focus on preserving environment and water bodies was kick started by Joint Director Planning Baramulla, A.G Malik, here today.
About 200 sweepers of Municipal Council are taking part in the cleanliness drive to clean roads, foot paths, lanes and drains in the town. On the occasion, the Joint Director while highlighting the importance of the campaign said that the objective of campaign cannot be achieved unless and until all sections of the society including students, teachers, transporters, shopkeepers and the civil society members join hands with the district administration.
He appealed people not to dump polythene bags or any kind of garbage into river Jhelum or water bodies, which is also part of the sanitation drive.
On the occasion, an awareness march was held from DC office to Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla during which participants were carrying banners and placards conveying messages related to importance of sanitation and maintenance of hygiene.
