Awareness programme organized on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’

SRINAGAR MARCH 01: An awareness programme under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign organized by Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) emphasizing importance of saving and educating a girl child was held here today.
Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, District Social Welfare Officer, District Programme Officer ICDS, former Deputy Director ICDS, Supervisors of ICDS and other concerned officials participated in the programme.
Educating participants about the importance of the campaign, various speakers urged for doing away with archaic perceptions about the girl child.
Officials of the ICDS said that Anganwardi workers should dedicatedly inform the people about the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ camapign so that parents can avail the benefits under the scheme for subsequent improvement in sex ratio.
While highlighting the importance of the scheme, other speakers counseled participants to avail benefits of schemes run by the Social Welfare Department.
