Jammu, Mar 01: 6 months ago the state government hiked the prices of dairy products which led to the disruption of the household budget of the common man. At the last hike the price was increased from Rs 165 to Rs 195 of the cottage cheese.
3 days back the prices of Milk and cheese were hiked by almost 20% as earlier the milk which was sold for Rs 40 is now being sold for Rs 47 and the cheese which was sold on for Rs 195 is now being sold for Rs 230.
The workers of Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a procession in Jammu City against the hike in the prices of the dairy products by 20% which has disrupted and uprooted the budget of the common man as the prices of vegetables and fruits are already inflated.
Mr Gupta stated that the prices of the essential commodities are always hiked or slashed after the consultation of the consumer counsel, but in an very baffled scenario the prices of the essential dairy products were hiked which just sounds nothing less than an scheme to benefit some people belonging to the trade.
Mr Gupta stated that the quality of the milk which is being supplied to the people is very adulterated as people have to compromise with their health in terms of the basic dairy and on the contrary the state government is talking about making Jammu a smart city where people doesn't even have clean products to consume. The food quality control department which keeps a check on the adulteration levels of the food items used to lie with the Municipal corporation but in the recent state of events the food adulteration checking has been transferred to the Health department which doesn't have the infrastructure and neither the man power to uphold the additional charge.
