Bandipora records 12.82 lakh kg mutton production

BÀNDIPORA FEBRUARY 28: The annual mutton production in Bandipora district has recorded encouraging increase with 12.82 kilograms this fiscal.
This was stated during an awareness camp organized by Sheep Husbandry Department here today under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.
It was given out that annual mutton and wool production in the district has gone up to 12.82 lakh kgs and 3.61 lakh kgs respectively, while as Sheep and Goat population has reached to 1.94 lakh and 51000 respectively.
District Development Commissioner Sajad Hussain, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, stressed on creating awareness among breeders about various welfare schemes of the Department. He asked breeders to follow the tips of experts for sustainable development of sheep husbandry sector. The DDC said that there is tremendous potential for Sheep rearing in the district and appealed the unemployed youth to take maximum benefit from such Government schemes.
During the camp, various experts delivered lectures and shared their technical expertise regarding sustainable sheep rearing, management and disease control in the livestock.
Deputy Director Feed & Fodder Kashmir, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Senior Doctors, Experts and a good number of Sheep breeders attended the camp.
