Rs 60 cr spent on various development works, 33.80 kms road macadamized during 2016-17

Directs timely floating of tenders, making early allotments for next fiscal

BUDGAM, FEBRUARY 28- Against an approved outlay of Rs 168.70 crore, Rs 59.62 crore have been spent on various developmental works under different sectors in district Budgam during 2016-2017 so far registering 83 percent expenditure.
This information was given in a meeting chaired by the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura to review the physical and financial achievements in district Budgam, here today.
Detailed discussions were held on various issues including next year’s action plan and status of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) submitted to the Centre for accord of approval.
While taking stock of pace of progress under R&B sector, it was informed in the meeting that 13 road projects including six new connectivity having 61.43 kms of road length have been sanctioned in district Budgam under PMGSY during 2016-17. It was also informed that Rs 65.19 crore have been spent on these projects so far.
It was also given out in the meeting that under Regular and NABARD, Rs 12.46 crore has been utilized on various road projects in district Budgam so far against an availability of Rs 13.50 crore.
The meeting was informed that 33.80 kms of road length have been macadamized during the current financial year so far, against the target of 120.75 kms including target of 88.50 kms under Cities and Towns.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mir Altaf briefed the meeting about the physical and financial achievements made during the current year under different departments.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister appreciated the district administration for achieving targets in almost all sectors despite of unrest in the Valley. He hoped that remaining work will be completed by the end of March this year. He asked the concerned to ensure completion of left out works targeted for the current fiscal.
Mr Hanjura asked the district administration to gear up their field functionaries and ensure timely floating of tenders and allotments for 2017-18. He said the present Government headed by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has committed to people of the State for their overall development, betterment and prosperity.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam Anshul Gargh, SSP Budgam and other officers of district administration were present in the meeting.
