Rs 3.24 cr disbursed among 2800 beneficiaries in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 28: An amount of Rs 3.24 crore was disbursed among 2800 beneficiaries under welfare schemes like Marriage Assistance, Educational Assistance, Death and Funeral Assistance, Disability and Chronic diseases in Srinagar during the last two years, officials said here today. They said District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, chaired a meeting yesterday to review implementation of various welfare schemes of Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board here today. The meeting was informed that during the financial year 2015-16 and 2016-17 an amount of Rs 3.24 crore have been disbursed among 2800 beneficiaries under welfare schemes like Marriage Assistance, Educational Assistance, Death & Funeral Assistance, Disability and Chronic diseases. On the occasion, the DDC directed officials of Labour Department Srinagar to ensure that all unregistered construction works are registered at the earliest, so that they can avail benefits under various welfare schemes. It was also given out that plumbers, electricians and painters are also eligible for registration as construction workers under the provisions of Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare. Meanwhile, unregistered construction workers have been asked to contact office of Assistant Labour Srinagar.
