Under-trial Review Committee visits Srinagar Central Jail

SRINAGAR, FEBUARY 27: Under-trial Review Committee under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar today visited Central Jail Srinagar to review the cases of under-trial prisoners falling under section 436A of CrPC.
He was accompanied by District Legal Services Authority (Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Srinagar), District Magistrate Srinagar and SSP Headquarters Srinagar.
The Committee members reviewed records pertaining to lodgment of undertrial prisoners in Central Jail Srinagar as on February 26. It was said that on spot observations made by the Committee were recorded for recommendations. Besides some of the initiatives pertaining to enhancement of hygienic conditions inside the jail were also discussed and it was recommended that concerned Departments will be approached to provide the same for rectification at the earliest.
They also inspected the premises of Central Jail Srinagar including prisoners’ barracks, hospital block and kitchen block to take stock of facilities being provided to the jail inmates.
