Srinagar, Feb 27: Life returned to normal in south Kashmir districts of Pulwama and Shopian, where strike was observed yesterday in protest against the arrest of over a dozen people, including shopkeepers, for their alleged involvement in stone pelting.
Meanwhile, hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) has rejected the reports that the amalgam has given any strike call for today. There is no strike call from the separatist alliance, spearheading the agitation for right to self determination, a spokesperson on the amalgam said.

Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and traffic was plying on all routes normally though security forces and state police personnel remained deployed to prevent any untoward incident in twin districts. Students also attended their tuition and coaching classes, preparing for professional examinations.

Work in government offices and banks was also normal. Strike was observed in Pulwama on Saturday and Sunday in protest against the arrest of over a dozen persons by police. In solidarity with Pulwama, Shopian also observed strike yesterday after some posters of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) appeared in the main town asking people to observe strike.
