Police recovered 20 packs poppy straw, two held
RAMBAN, Feb 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) Banihal seized 20 packets of poppy straw and attested two persons, at Jawahar Tunnel, today.
According to the police officials a truck bearing registration no. PB10 DA-1704 was stopped for checking at a naka near police post Jawahar Tunnel and during the checking 20 packets of poppy straw was found from spare tyre of the vehicle.
The accused was identified as Ashok Massi son of Bansa Massi of Kalanoor district Gurdaspur Punjab (driver) and Harnam Massi son of chiman Massi of village Uppal district Gurdaspur. Officials said the poppy straw is approximately 13 to 15 Kg. A case under FIR no. 18/2017 u/s 8/25 NDPS has been registered in this regard at police station Banihal.
The arrest has been made by Sub Inspector Gurpal Singh IC PP Jawahar Tunnel in close coordination with Station House Officer (SHO) Banihal Nazir Ahmed Dar under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Mohan Lal.
