Soldiers martyred in Shopian ambush identified

Srinagar, Feb 23: All the three soldiers, including a resident of south Kashmir, martyred in an ambush by militants in Shopian have been identified, Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told UNI.

He said the martyrs, include Lance Naik Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, a resident of Punchpora in Bijbehara in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. Mohi-ud-Din is survived by his wife and son.

Another soldier killed in the ambush has been identified as Sapper Sreejith M J, who is a resident of Palakkad in Kerala, he said, adding the martyr is survived by his mother.

Sepoy Vikas Singh Gujar, a resident of Karouli in Rajasthan, was the third soldier killed in the ambush, Col Kalia said, adding he is survived by his wife.
