Kulgam driver did not die of pellet injuries, says police

Srinagar, Feb 22: Rejecting reports that a youth succumbed to his pellet injuries in Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir Police today said the deceased had no history of pellet wounds.

A police spokesperson here today said Waseem Ahmed Thoker was found unconscious at Baitul Hilal Yateem foundation Chawalgam in Kulgam on February 20.

Thoker was immediately taken to Kulgam district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. He said police taking cognisance of the incident has primarily found that there was no medical history of pellet injuries as has been published in various news report. “The deceased was doing routine work at Baitul Hilal Foundation as ambulance driver and has died in his room,” he said.

He said the news reports published by some local dailies is baseless, concocted and far from the truth and are therefore rebutted. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances and cause of the dead of the youth, he added
