Delegations from Bangladesh, Nepal visit Karenda to study digital village

New Delhi, Feb 22: After much anticipated participation from ASEAN nations at ASEAN-India Digital Connectivity event here, delegations from Bangladesh and Nepal led by their telecom ministers are visiting to Karenda village of Alwar district in Rajasthan to study the model digital village using solar-powered telecom towers. Karenda is being seen as a successful digital model village and the delegation wants to replicate the same into their respective countries. The village lacks the basic amenities but the people use internet to pay their bills, download study material and watch videos on YouTube, a VNL executive said. The village has been digitised by a private entity VNL.
