JAMMU: Successfully foiling an infiltration bid at Line of Control (LoC) at a forward post the Border Security Force have killed one militant on the fence, while claiming injury to two others in the retaliation.
BSF also recovered huge amount of arms and ammunition and other incriminating material from the spot after launching a massive search operation. Normally, army is mans the entire 720 kilometer long LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, many point at forward area are also under the exclusive command of BSF too.
Since the neutralization of three militants in encounter on 29 November 2016 in area of BoP Chamliyal under Ramgarh sector, BSF has successfully foiled 11 Infiltration bids after noticing suspicious movements on International Border and 15 at LoC under Jammu region. Seven among these were major infiltration bids. It is worth mentioning that since surgical strikes on September 29, 2016, Pakistan continuously attempting to push armed militants inside India, but army and BSF successfully foiled all these infiltration bids.
The BSF's Jammu Frontier IG, Ram Awtar told media persons here at BSF Headquarters today, "In another display of vigil and dogged determination, troops of 163 Bn BSF deployed in Rajouri sector have foiled an infiltration attempt by heavily armed Pakistani militants on the LoC."
"During intervening night of 20-21 Feb at around midnight, BSF troops deployed on forward duty points along the LC Fence in the Keri Sector of Rajouri observed suspicious movement of 3-4 Militants moving towards the fence," detailed the IG and further added, "The BSF sentries immediately alerted the nearby duty points and also simultaneously kept the movement and the entire area under close observation. As the Militants approached the LC fence, one of them tried to negotiate it."
However, the alert BSF troops brought down effective fire on them on realizing that they had been spotted, the militants opened up with automatic weapons and also fired UBGL grenades on the BSF troops deployed on the duty points along the fence. BSF troops retaliated with aimed fire, as a result one of the terrorists was neutralized at the fence itself. Due to the effective firing by the BSF troops, the other three militants were unable to move further and retreated back towards POK taking the advantage of the darkness as well as undulating ground. As they were escaping, it could be observed that one of slain / injured militant was also being dragged along. After that, the area was kept under close and intese surveillance throughout the night.
IG Ram Awtar flanked by BSF DIG (G) Jammu, Dharmendra Pareek said that after successfully foiled the attempt, at first light around 7 am, BSF party carried out thorough search and mopping up of the entire area in cautious manner Subsequently, the dead body of slain militant was also retrieved after following necessary safety drills.
BSF recovered one AK-56 Rifle, 16 AK Magazines, 267AK ammunition, 89 AK series EFC, one Radio Set one Binocular, five Grenade, three wire cutters, four back-pack bags, two 10 IEDs, one AK-Magazine fitted with IED, one Knife, 48 pencil cells, two charger, four walking sticks, Liquid material bottles for fire burning, 5 pairs of Hand Gloves, Rain coat, Jacket, Bed, Sheet and survival items like Dry fruits, Juices having tags of made in Pakistan.
