Govt revises land acquisition rates

JAMMU: State government Tuesday amended the Jammu and Kashmir Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property Act 1968 to fix rates of rents for different categories lands.
As per the notification, under class-I categories of lands, rates of irrigated lands per kanal per annum would be Rs 5578, while for irrigated double cropped lands, the rates would be Rs 6743 per kanal per annum. Under class-II categories of lands, Rs 5280 would be paid as rent for irrigated lands per kanal per annum and Rs 2293 for un-irrigated lands.
Under class-III uncultivable lands, the rate of lands per kanal per annum would be Rs 1476. For lands having fruit bearing orchards, the rate of lands per annum per kanal would be Rs 10, 500.
For lands falling under Jammu Municipal Corporation/Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Jammu/Srinagar Cantonment areas, the rates of lands per annum per kanal would be Rs 35, 438 whereas for lands falling under Municipal Councils including Poonch Municipal Councils, the rate of lands would be Rs 27, 843 per annum per kanal.
For lands falling under Municipal Committees, the rate would be Rs 16, 356 per annum per kanal.
