Orai, Bundelkhand, Feb 20: BJP today ridiculed Samajwadi Party president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for openly supporting rape accused leaders-- Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and Arun Verma-- saying 'this is the Kaam bolta hai' slogan of the party. Mr Yadav would be campaigning for the two leaders--contesting the Assembly polls on party tickets-- today at Amethi and Sultanpur. Prajapati, accused of rape, was not arrested despite an FIR lodged on the Supreme Court's direction backing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charges that police stations in the state are run by criminals in the SP regime, alleged UP BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak here. 'The CM is openly supporting the criminals and rapists and it is unfortunate that he was trying to mislead the people of the state by allying with Congress," he further alleged. Verma, SP MLA from Sultanpur, is accused of recently killing a woman, who had charged him with rape. An FIR has been registered against him. The BJP leader has further questioned the SP-Congress alliance leaders on their take regarding the CM's campaign in Unchahar of Rae Bareli and Amethi today, where both the parties' candidates are pitted against each other. "There is no meaning of this alliance as they are just trying to confuse the voters for their opportunistic approach," he said. UP minister and SP's Brahmin face Manoj Pandey is contesting from Uchahar seat which had been claimed by Congress too by giving ticket to Ajay Pal Singh. In Amethi too, Prajapati is pitted against Congress' Amita Singh, the second wife of Congress leader Sanjay Singh. Interestingly, Sanjay's first wife too is BJP candidate from the same seat. Mr Yadav is slated to campaign against Congress candidates in these two seats today, throwing the alliance in utter confusion in the Nehru-Gandhi borough.
