Bukhari become Minister of Education in J&K government

Jammu, Feb 17: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today expanded her Council of Ministers with the induction of a former minister from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Former Works Minister in late chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's regime, Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, was again inducted as a minister. He was sworn in by Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan here this afternoon.

Mr Bukhari was dropped by Ms Mufti after taking over as the state's first woman Chief Minister. Now, there are a total 24 ministers while one more is to be inducted taking the tally to 25.

Howevern now the Senior PDP leader Altaf Bukhari has been assigned the portfolio of Education. An order issued by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that Naeem Akhtar who held the charge of Education would look after Ministry of Public Works.

Abdul Rehman Veeri has been assigned the charge of Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs.

Syed Basharat Bukhari would look after the Horticulture, said the order.
