NABARD organizes 'Financial Literacy Awareness Programme' in village Chann Gran

KATHUA : A Financial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) was organised in village Chann Gran, Kathua by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on Monday. Madan Lal DDM NABARD Kathua, S K Kandroo LDM Kathua, Sansar Chand FLCC Coordinator Kathua, K K Bhardwaj NGO (KYASC) representative and about 60 farmers of the nearby areas were among the participants. Sansar Chand, FLCC Coordinator informed the farmers about development through banking and social sector schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana etc. He explained the different features of schemes and relevance of insurance in current scenario. He informed the need of linking through banks and importance of opening of saving bank accounts. He asked dairy farmers to avail loan, take advantage of subsidy schemes, and develop enterprise. He assured that banks will be giving all necessary financial assistance to needy farmers. He interacted with farmers, clarified issues of farmers related to different banking schemes. He asked all the members to understand business creation and development of enterprise. S K Kandroo assured that banks will be giving all necessary financial assistance to needy farmers. He laid special emphasis on cashless transactions. The cashless economy aspects like usage of ATM cards, e-wallet, internet banking, PoS, machines etc., and its benefits were informed to the participants. Participants were also advised to take necessary precautions to prevent various frauds related to ATM, fake lottery calls and other security matters. Madan Lal, DDM, NABARD briefed the farmers about the importance of financial inclusion and need to be careful from fraud. He also informed the farmers about the availability of subsidy in different schemes. It was also impressed that farmers should adopt other agriculture allied activities like mushroom farming, floriculture, sericulture, bee keeping etc for raising their income as the area has lot of potential for these activities. He also explained in detail about the schemes of National Livestock Mission, JLG, KCC, Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Water Campaign etc. Participants were also advised to open savings bank a/cs and link it with their mobile and Aadhar numbers.
