Chennai, Jan 23: The Opposition DMK today demanded a judicial probe into the alleged police action against the pro-Jallikattu supporters and the subsequent violence that rocked the city when protestors, were forcibly evicted by the police across the state. DMK Working President M K Stalin and other members of the party met Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and submitted a petition in this regard.
Pointing out the city resembled a war like zone in the wake of violence and the police action against the pro-Jallikattu supporters, who had been protesting in a peaceful manner, he alleged these incidents only reflected the violence let loose by the police. ''Considering the future of the youth, police should not register any cases against the youth and release all those arrested, besides providing treatment to all those injured in the police action at Government's cost to them'', he added. He also said that apart from providing compensation to them, the Governor should take steps to order a probe by a sitting High Court Judge into the police action and the violence that took place in the city.
