Cricket championship for Physically Challenged persons concludes, Vaid felicitates cricketers

JAMMU, JANUARY 23: All India Super Six T-20 Cricket Tournament for physically challenged cricketers which began on 20th January concluded at Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground here this evening. Rajasthan walked away with the title after beating Tamil Nadu XI.
Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S .P .Vaid, who was the chief guest on the concluding function, congratulated the winning team saying that the sports events for the physically challenged persons boost their morale and provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent. He said that the cricketers during the championship by their talent made all believe that they are not less than any other and have good sports skills. He said that these cricketers need to be encouraged to hone their talent.
Six teams from different states of the country viz Rajasthan, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and J&K played in the super six, in two pools consisting three teams each. Final match was played between Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu and was won by Rajasthan.
Dr. Vaid appreciated the discipline and skills of the cricketers, they demonstrated during the championship. He also appreciated the efforts of organisers for conducting the championship in a befitting manner. He distributed trophies and mementoes among the players, teams. He disclosed that such events would also be organised in Srinagar in future.
Additional Director General of Police Security was the
Guest of Honour on the occasion. He said that the championship was organised at a short notice and efficient arrangements were made for the lodging and boarding of participating teams.
Among others, the function was attended by ADsGP, L. Mohanti and AK Choudhary, IsGP, Yoginder Koul, MA Khan, SD Singh, SA Watali, MA Ganai and JP Singh, DIG, Alok Kumar and AA Wani, SO to ADGP Armed, MY Kichloo, Dy.SP, Junaid Wali, Sports Officer Armed Hqrs, Jigmet Lhundup and other police officers.
