JK to have Sports Policy soon: Ansari

Minister for Youth Service and Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today said that state will soon have its own Sports Policy to give further impetus to the sports activities.
Replying to a question by Vikramaditya Singh in the upper house, the Minister informed that a draft Sports Policy has been formulated with the objective to create a culture of sports in the state.
He said the policy is aimed at to provide opportunity to all citizens to participate in sports, develop, maintain and optimally utilize high quality sports infrastructure and channelize youth talent in sports.
He said the government will reward the outstanding sports persons to appreciate and acknowledge the contribution of sports persons so that new talent is lured towards the sports activities.
He said the policy is under active consideration of the government and will be put in place very soon. Minister said the government is keen to develop sports infrastructure in the state besides giving boost to traditional sports of different regions of the state.
Legislators Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Firdous Ahmad Tak raised supplementary questions to the main question.
