Training of non-lethal weapons introduced in PTCs: J&K Govt

Jammu, Jan 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said that training of non-lethal weapons has been introduced in the Police Training Centres across the state.

''Training in the use of non-lethal weapons has been introduced in the Basic Induction Courses of jawans and officers at the Police Training Centres,'' Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said in written reply to a question raised by MLA Anjum Fazil, seeking details on the sort of training imparted to the security, police and officials to use non-lethal weapons, to maintain law and order in the state.

''Besides, Refresher Courses in use of non-lethal weapons, which include Tear Smoke Guns, Tear Smoke Grenades and Pump Action Guns are being regularly organised for security force personnel and police jawans jointly in all District Police Lines''.

''These trainings also include Riot/Mob control training, apart from dealing with the mobs, as and when required,'' the Minister In-Charge, Home replied.
