SSP, Dy SPs NH attached for ‘traffic mismanagement’

JAMMU, JANUARY 22: Taking a serious note of the reported traffic mismanagement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW), particularly on Banihal-Qazigund stretch on 20th and 21st January, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr S P Vaid today ordered immediate attachment of three officers.
The attached officers include SSP Traffic NHW, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic NHW Banihal, Nihar Ranjan and Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic Kulgam, Safdar Hamid Hassan Samoon.
A formal inquiry has been ordered to ascertain alleged dereliction of duty and casual attitude in maintaining traffic on National Highway by these officers. These officers shall remain attached with the office of the DIG South Kashmir Range till the inquiry is completed.
Meanwhile, SSP Ramban shall look after the working of SSP Traffic NHW while SDPO Banihal and SDPO Qazigund in addition to their own assignments will look after the charge of Dy SP Traffic NHW Banihal and Dy SP Traffic Kulgam respectively till further orders.
