J&K Govt pursuing ST status to Pahari matter with Centre: Lone

Jammu, Jan 21: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Social Welfare, Sajad Gani Lone today said that a detailed report regarding socio-economic and common ethnic characteristic of Pahari speaking people has been referred to the Centre for grant of ST status to the said community.
Replying to a question by Raja Manzoor, in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister said that the matter was referred to the Centre after seeking approval of the state cabinet.
He said the department is vigorously following up the matter in the Union Ministry concerned.
