Srinagar-Jammu highway closed again, thousands of vehicle stranded
Srinagar, Jan 22: The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was closed yet again due to fresh snowfall since early this morning.
Frequent closure of the highway has resulted in major increase in the fair of air-tickets between Srinagar to Jammu and Srinagar to Delhi.
Meanwhile, thousands of vehicles, particularly trucks and heavy vehicles, are stranded on the highway for the past four days as authorities allowed only light and passenger vehicles due to slippery conditions of road, which is also damaged at several places. However, it took vehicles more than 16 hours to cover the distance between the twin capital cities.
