JAMMU, JAN 21: Minister for Social Welfare, Sajad Gani Lone today informed the Legislative Assembly that a detailed report regarding socio-economic and common ethnic characteristic of Pahari speaking people has been referred to the Centre for grant of ST status to the said community.
Replying to a question by Raja Manzoor, the Minister said that the matter was referred to the Government of India after seeking approval of the state cabinet. He said the department is vigorously following up the matter in the concerned Union Ministry.
Legislator Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami raised supplementary questions to the main question.
