Over 3.92 lakh children to be given polio vaccine on Jan 29 in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 21: Over 3 point 92 lakh children under the age of five, will be given polio vaccine in 2012 booths under Plus Polio Immunisation Programme (IPPIP) on January 29 in three Kashmir districts. An official Spokesperson here today said that 3,92,529 children from south Kashmir district of Anantnag, central Kashmir district of Budgam and north Kashmir district of Baramulla will be given polio vaccine at 2012 booths on January 29. He said about 135734 children in the age group of 0-5 years shall be covered in Anantnag under the IPP programme, for which 624 vaccine booths will be set up. 'As many as 2621 workers shall be deployed for smooth conduct of the programme in the district,' he said. Meanwhile, as many as 612 vaccination booths would be set up in different parts of Budgam to cover about 101916 children of 0-5 years under the vaccination programme, he added. He also informed that 2252 personnel comprising Health Workers, ASHAs, AWWs will be deployed for the smooth conduct of immunisation programme in the district. Similarly, he said that as many as 154879 children below the age of five in Baramulla will be immunised under the first Phase of PPIP, for which 776 vaccination booths have been set up in 10 blocks of the district. He said that 786 teams comprising 3259 members, including Health workers, ASHA workers, ICDS workers and teachers, shall be deployed for the smooth conduct of anti-polio immunisation. Besides, Transit Camps for railway stations, Bus Addas and mobile teams have also been constituted for the purpose.
