Demand for Cancer hospital in Ladakh

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader-Nawang Rigzin Jora also demanded establishment of a cancer hospital in Leh.
He said that the prevalence of cancer is very high in Leh and under such circumstances; people of Leh have to go to Delhi or other institutes in other parts of the country for their treatment.
“Our people aren’t that much rich. So it’s not easy for them to afford the fares of flights or the hospital fee in premier hospitals like AIIMS and PGI. So, I appeal Mr Bali Bhagat to establish a cancer hospital in Leh,” he said.
In a separate conversation with the The News Now over reasons for the high prevalence of cancer in Leh, he said, “According to me, it is due to more exposure of people to the Ultraviolet Rays but as such no study has been carried on this issue till now.”
“It is the reason, I appealed the concerned minister to conduct a study on the reasons and then establish a cancer hospital in Leh,” he added.
