Says sufficient stocks, supply of essentials available in Valley

SRINAGAR January 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today said that most of the essential services have been restored in the valley after recent snow fall, besides snow has been cleared almost from all roads.
He said that out of 7000 kilometers road length in the valley, 6380 kms were cleared from snow and rest will be cleared by evening. He said there is sufficient stock of ration available with the FCI and FSC&CA to cater to the public demand, besides LPG, Petrol, and Diesel is available for one month. He further informed that FCS&CA department has constituted market checking squads to check profiteers and hoarders.
With regard to the danger of avalanches in avalanche prone areas, the Div Com said that all Deputy Commissioners of the valley have been directed to shift the people of these areas to safer places and accordingly 80 families were shifted to safer places in Waltengoo.
The Div Com further said that Joint Control Rooms have been established at District levels besides two control rooms at central level for the help of people and quick response to meet any exigency.
He said that that out of 109 power feeders almost all are working while as about 232 receiving stations are functional in the valley. He directed the PDD to strictly adhere to power schedule and replace or repair the damaged transformers on priority basis.
Regarding the weather conditions in the valley, the Div Com said after advisory issued from metrological Department all arrangements have been put in place by the concerned district administrations to deal any exigency.
