Inspects functioning of hospitals, snow clearance measures

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar City to inspect the functioning of city hospitals, snow clearance operations and various developmental works.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and Commissioner SMC Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, SSP Srinagar, Officers and Engineers of Mechanical Division, R&B, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Health and other concerned accompanied the Div Com.
During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner visited SMHS Hospital and inspected its various wards. He interacted with the patients, attendants and hospital administration and enquired about the facilities being provided by the hospital authorities. He also took stock of healthcare facilities at SKIMS Soura where he inspected various wards including Emergency section and enquired about the well-being of patients. He directed the concerned for ensuring better medicare facilities and asked the hospital authorities to maintain cleanliness and better sanitation measures in and around the institute. He also had a detailed meeting with Director SKIMS about overall functioning of the tertiary care hospital.
Later, the Div Com visited various areas of the old city and civil lines areas to inspect snow clearance measures.
He reviewed snow clearance arrangements at Jamia Masjid and Hazratbal premises. He also inspected ongoing work on drainage project in Pandan Nowhatta. He directed to demolish all houses there which had developed cracks during excavation and directed the concerned to provide adequate compensation to owners of these houses.
During the visit, The Divisional also visited Regal Chowk and interacted shopkeepers there. He directed the SMC to repair all defunct street lights and install new ones as per the requirement in civil lines area.
