JAMMU: A sudden spurt in militanct activity across the International Border has taken place with intelligence agencies having strong inputs that Pakistan may again attempt to push infiltrators or may repeat another BAT operation.
Specific inputs suggest infiltration attempt in next few days in Samba or Hiranagar sectors as uncommon activities were seen in the opposite areas.
“There are inputs of infiltration bids in next 4-5 days from IB in Samba-Hiranagar-Kathua sectors. The infiltrators may try Tarnah Nallah, Ujh or Basantar river gaps,” said official sources.
A high-alert has been sounded by the BSF and the border range of state police following the infiltration bid in Samba on Jan 13. The bid was foiled and the BSF eliminated a guide of terrorists. Sources said that activities in the launching pads across the border have increased.
“Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BAT) are also active, so the forces are cautious these days,” said sources in intelligence agencies.
When contacted, DIG (G) BSF Frontier, Jammu, Dharmendra Parik said that BSF is on high alert and each and every input or information is taken seriously.
“These days there is dense cover of fog during night hours but the forces are alert and well equipped,” informed the DIG.
