Jammu: Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu will present the third budget of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday.
It is widely believed that the current budget will consolidate and do a stocktaking of the past three budgets tabled by the PDP-BJP government.
Earlier, on December 31, last year, the Finance Minister had said, “I tried to impart human face to finance by making lives of people easier, be it employees or others. We will continue with some of these important organisational changes plus some reform measures.”
He had said, “Because the last budget was presented in July, it has been just six months, this budget will consolidate and do a stock taking of previous three budgets.”
Dr Drabu had also said that finance should not be seen as a constraining department, but something that aids development.
“So far we have tried to lot of reforms. Last year did a reform on Provident Fund (PF), this year also we will continue doing some reforms. The basic theme of my budget has been to make things easier for people,” he had said.
The budget, to be tabled by Finance Minister on January 11 in LA is likely to be people oriented, while no new taxes will be imposed. It is also expected that some new social security schemes for employees in general and women in particular will be announced in the budget.
