JAMMU: Even as peace was restored in Kathua villages but the Members of Opposition National Conference and an Independent Legislator today staged walk out from the Legislative Assembly alleging excesses against Muslim families on the sacrilegious act.
Led by NC leader Omar Abdullah, the Opposition Members staged walk-out from the assembly after demanding action against the civil administration and police officers of district Kathua for clashes between two community members.
Targeting PDP-BJP government for instigating the clashes, all legislators of opposition including National Conference, Congress, CPI (M) and Independent MLA Engineer Abdul Rashid today stood on their benches and protested against the incident.
As soon as the House began on Tuesday, NC MLA Mian Altaf reached to the well and demanded inquiry and action against culprits in Kathua incident. He was supported by MLA Langate Engineer Rashid and other NC legislator in protest.
Shouting slogans against the government, the NC, Congress members this morning created ruckus asserting that the House proceedings cannot run as situation in the state is not conducive.
After the opposition staged walk-out, Deputy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh said that opposition is making issue of the no issue and the Kathua incident was nothing but result of rift between two families of the same community and then one of the families spread the issue and due to misinformation it got highlighted and created tensions. Police and Administration officers registered cases against the accused and investigation is on.
"Opposition is unnecessarily creating uproar in the house. Due to continuous disruption by opposition house business is affected and issues of common public are not being addressed properly," said Deputy CM, targeting opposition.
