Militant killed, 2 others escape

Srinagar: Special Operation Group (SOG) of J&K police and 13 Rashtirya Rifles (RR) on Tuesday killed a Lasker-e-Toiba militant and a soldier was injured in Hajin area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir while two others managed to escape from the spot.
A senior police official said here that after receiving inputs about the presence of a group of militants in Parrey Mohalla village of Hajin town, an Army pose of 13 RR and SOG cordoned off the area. He said as the joint party started searches, hiding militants opened fire. " The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing encounter a militant of LeT was killed," the officer said adding that a RR soldier identified as Naik Pramood Kumar was injured. "He was has been shifted to hospital for treatment, where his condition is stated to be stable."
He said one AK-47 Rifle and other war like stores were recovered from the slain militant. " We had information of three militants. Two have probably managed to escape from the spot," he said adding that patrolling has been intensified in the area to track the ruminants.
The official identified the slain militant as Abu Surag from Pakistan. "After doing postmortem of his body at Mansbal Army Camp, his body was handed over to local Auqaf Committee Uri where he was laid to rest," the official said.
Meanwhile a massive search operation has been launched in Tral area of south Kashmir. Sources in security establishment said that operation has been launched to track down militants hiding the in dense forests of Tral.
