JAMMU: Accusing the government of failing in promoting Dogri language and neglecting it, National Panthers Students Union today held a strong protest demonstration. The protest which was held outside University complex was led by Thakur. Virender Singh, State President NPSU. While talking to media Singh said that this was really matter of concern that Dogri language is being ignored completely since a long time despite the fact that it has been introduced in the 8th schedule of the constitution.
Singh said that the students, scholars, and other Dogri speaking people of Jammu have been demanding introduction of Dogri subject in the schools and colleges but nothing has been done by the govt. despite repeated assurances. He regretted that even the BJP members too failed to do justice with Dogri language.
Contending the claim of MoS Education on the floors of Assembly that Dogri subject has been introduced in the schools, the NPSU leader described this statement as false and misleading saying that without the availability of language experts and lecturers teaching Dogri will be a cruel joke with the language and the people of Jammu as well.
Singh demanded establishment of Dogri Department in CUJ and publishing of Dogri literature.
Other who present include; Lovely Singh, Keshav Sharma, Rishi Badyal, Sudesh Badyal, Chetan Sharma, Rudar Partap Singh, Amandeep Singh and Rajan Sharma.
