Kargil Students’ Staged Protest against Molestation of a Ladakhi female Student in Jammu

KARGIL, Jan 10: Thousand Students in Kargil today staged protest against the molestation of a Ladakhi medical student in Government Medical College Jammu. The protest was started from Student Educational Movement Kargil (SEMOK) office and marched through main bazar and culminated at Islamia School Chowk. Meanwhile the representatives of Imam Khomeini memorial Trust and Islamia School Kargil also take part in this protest.
Speaking to the gathering at Islamia School representative Aga Syed Ahmed said, “ISK Kargil strongly condemned this act and appeals government to punish the culprit as soon as possible”.
The representative of Imam Khomeini memorial Trust Kargil Maulana Abass Karrari also condemning the molestation of a Ladakhi female student in Jammu said, “We also condemned this shameful act and express our anger that the culprit is still not punished”.
Young Social Activist and Journalist Sajjad Kargil on this occasion said that some legislators are sheltering the culprit which is very unfortunate. He said, “After this incident the family member of every female students are in a state of shock and we appeal to the government to take stern action as earliest”.
“In the era of intolerance the students’ protest against the molestation is appreciable “he added.
The protest was concluded with the speech of Gulzar Hussain Acting president of SEMOK Ladakh he said, “On one hand government fails to provide Ladakh region with quality of higher institute learning and on the other its fails to provide security of our students who are studying is various parts of state and country”.
During the protest many female students also spoken and condemned the act and appealed to the government to take necessary action against the culprit so that no one can dare to do certain act against the student.
It’s pertinent to mention here that in recent days a female medical student from Ladakh region was molested the Head of department in forensic in government Medical College Jammu.
