Mysterious blast rocks Jammu, vehicles damaged

Jammu, Oct 26: A Mysterious blast rocked this winter capital of the state last night, damaging nearly five vehicles. "A powerful explosion was heard during midnight at Vivekananda Chowk in the heart of old city," a police spokesman said.

He said that the windowpanes of nearly five vehicles got damaged due to explosion while no injury was reported. "It has not yet been ascertained whether it was a grenade attack or some crude object exploded," he added. Meanwhile a senior police officer told UNI that FSL team has been rushed to the spot and they have collected the samples to find out the cause of the blast.

An eyewitness however, said that due to darkness, nothing was established on the spot either it was a mischief played by some miscreant or an anti-national activity. Panic gripped the surrounding localities and people rushed out of their houses.

Police have cordoned the area and security has been intensified with raised check points and night patrolling. Pertinent to mention here that alert is already sounded here against the backdrop of surgical strike and escalated tension between India and Pakistan on border.
