Jammu reports highest 711 cases, fully jabbed among 5 die in region Tally reaches 3.62 L, death toll at 4572

Jammu: The upward trend of fresh infections in Jammu district continued as 711 Covid cases were reported on Monday, even surpassing the highest tally of 685 cases registered couple of days back.
The district also saw four deaths out of the total five registered across the union territory while a fully vaccinated person died of contagion from Udhampur district today.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 2,827 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the tally to 3,62,200, while five more deaths pushed the toll to 4,572, officials said.
An 85-year old male from Udhampur district who had received both anti-Covid doses died of the virus today.
Today, 26 fresh cases were reported from targeting sampling in Akhnoor sub-division, 12 from civil secretariat and 10 from Chowki Choura area. In the wake of surge in Covid cases, many offices have suspended the public dealings for the time being. As per sources at least 32 BSF Jawans and 22 doctors tested positive for Covid in Kashmir,
Owing to the rise in Covid-19 cases, the authorities have postponed the MBBS exams notified on January 11. The exams were scheduled from January 22. All the Examinations of SKIMS Deemed Medical University scheduled from January 17 have been deferred till further orders. Also Ganderbal administration has instructed all the educational institutions to switch to online mode.
Meanwhile after detection for fresh cases, the administration has declared 16 new containment zones in Jammu today. The areas included-areas around J&K Bank Panama chowk, Lane near house number 104, Sector-8, Shivaji Chowk, Upper Roopnagar, area around SOS Home, Gole Gujral, lane near quarter number 2 and 3, near Police Headquarter Gulshan Ground, Lane number 16, near Police Colony Durga Nagar, Muthi, Area in an around SSB Security Office, Bikram chowk, Lane near house numner 67, Adarsh Colony, Trikuta Nagar, Lane near house number 1414 B, Sainik Colony, Lane near house number 64/1, Sector 8, Sainil Colony, Lane near house number 55, behind Aircel Call Centra, Vidhata Nagar, Bathindi, Area around Military Station , Sunjwan, Lane near house number 46/3, Tawi Vihar Colony Sidhra, Lane near house number 1 B/B extension Gandhi Nagar, Lane near E 21, Phase 4, Purkhoo camp, Lane near house number 140, sector 1, near Channihimmat and lane neat house number 33, sector 3, near Indian Oil Petrol Pump, Channi Himmat.
The union territory had on Sunday recorded 3,499 new Covid cases. Of the cases on Monday, 1,093 were reported from the Jammu division and 1,734 from the Kashmir division, the officials said. They said Jammu district recorded the highest of 711 cases, followed by 618 cases in Srinagar district. 122 from Udhampur, 42 from Rajouri, 20 from Doda, 30 from Kathua, 52 from Samba, 07 from Kishtwar, 32 from Poonch, 42 from Ramban and 35 cases were reported from Reasi today.
There are 17,928 active cases in the union territory. The number of recovered patients was 3,39,700, the officials said. The toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 4,572 as five fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, they said.
