Admin to rope in medical students to contain spread

SRINAGAR: To contain the Covid-19 third wave in Kashmir, a slew of directions has been issued by the administration, including establishing Triage centres and deputing final year MBBS, nursing, and paramedical students.
The directions have been passed after Divisional Commissioner P K Pole conducted a meeting on the implementation of mitigation measures for the control of third-wave Covid-19 in Kashmir.
The meeting was participated by Director SKIMS, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Chief Executive Officer J&K ERA, Mission Director National Health Mission, Deputy Commissioner’s, Principal SKIMS MCH Bemina, Principal GMC Anantnag, Director Health Services Kashmir, and other health officials and was held on Wednesday.
An official who was part of the meeting told TNN that the Divisional Commissioner P K Pole has directed the establishment of Triage Centres, two in each district- one at the district hospital and another at Sub District Hospital and all the necessary staff/logistics shall be put in place in these triage centers.
“Further, the Div Com stressed upon the application of fundamental principles of patient care management of asymptomatic Covid-19 positive patients in home isolation and in hospitals; besides, mindful referral of patients to the Tertiary Care Hospitals”, he added.
“The Div Com, however informed that that so far nature of the third wave of Covid-19 has been very mild, and the cases require symptom bases treatment which can be given to them at primary health centres and as such it is imperative that such Primary Health Centres including Panchayat Covid care centres be strengthened with men and machinery”, he added.
Further, it was directed by the Div Com that all positive in the district shall attend the triage centre on getting positive Covid-19 test report and their further destination shall be decided by the medical team at the Triage centre, the official added.
In the meeting, the Div com instructed for roping in manpower from the department. The health team constituted for monitoring of home isolation cases to be supplemented with additional manpower roped in from other departments the chair stressed.
The Div Com also directed to constitute District Monitoring supervisory teams who shall monitor and supervise the home isolation surveillance and delivery of Covid-19 kits. They shall submit reports to this office on a weekly basis as per the format The Div Com further stressed for testing for all symptomatic cases (LI’s and SARI) for Covid-19, the official added.
The Div Com during the meeting instructed the Director SKIMS Principal GMC Srinagar and Principal MCH Bemina Srinagar to depute final year MBBS students and final year Nursing/Paramedic students to Deputy Commissioner Srinagar for further deployment as per requirement.
The Div Com directed CMOs to reach out to all those unvaccinated people and convince them to go for vaccination. The div com Kashmir directed for conducting of Covid-19 death analysis on monthly basis, the official added.
“The Div Com further directed for taking all requisite steps pro-actively for the management of containment zones, including notifying new containment zone, testing 100 per cent eligible population in the containment zone through RAT within three days and timely de-notification”, the official added.
