Weekly Block Diwas: Public Outreach programme held at Dhar Mahanpur

KATHUA, NOVEMBER 24:To listen to the issues and grievances of the people, a Public Outreach Programme was held today at Block Development Office, Dhar Mahanpur as part of weekly Block Divas program.
District Development Council, Chairperson, Mahan Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav; BDC chairperson Dhar-Mahanpur Sushma Devi; District Officers of line departments and PRIs of concerned Panchayats and a large number of locals participated in the Block Diwas.
Several public delegations, individuals besides PRI members projected the local demands and problems being faced by the public. They demanded early start of Zero Morh-Dhar Mahanpur road work, renovation of tourism building, building for Medical Sub-Centre Dhar-Kohar, demand for PMGSY road from Khatan to Dhamlar, shortage of staff at GHS Godal etc.
The BDC chairperson demanded early completion of ongoing road works besides providing road connectivity to uncovered areas of block Dhar–Mahanpur. She also projected the demand related to opening of Jammu & Kashmir Bank branch besides highlighting the problem of drinking water and defunct hand pumps. Demand for the opening of New Degree College was also raised on the occasion.
The DDC Chairperson Kathua, Mahan Singh, while addressing the public said that Block Divas is aimed at getting first hand appraisal of the problems and development aspirations of the people. He called upon the field functionaries of different departments and PRIs to work in close coordination to ensure prompt delivery of essential services and also issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for redressal of genuine demands and grievances of public importance.
The DC passed on spot instructions to the concerned Officers to come up with the line of action to solve public issues pertaining to their respective departments in a set time line. He said efforts are being made to rope in all PRI representatives and stakeholder departments to ensure equitable development of Rural and Urban areas by fulfilling popular aspirations of the people.
The DC assured people that the rest of demands will be redressed on priority by mobilizing resources. He also directed the officers to work with missionary zeal to meet and address the genuine demands of the Public.
Earlier, ADC Basohli Tilak Raj Thapa sensitized people about the IEC campaign on ‘Aapki Zameen Aapki Nigrani’- initiative of J&K Government under which people can access the Land Records Information System and view it online from their home.
During the proceedings of the programme, the officials from Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors gave a brief overview of various schemes run by them.
