J&K HC stays FIR lodged against KAS officer, family

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Court on Monday stayed the FIR registered against JKAS Officer Neeha Pandita Kashyap and her family including sister filed by the Crime Branch, Jammu.

“Justice Rajnesh Oswal after hearing Advocate Ankur Sharma stayed the FIR against the KAS officer and her sister”, said a judicial officer.

The Crime Branch Jammu had registered a case against female JKAS officer Neha Kashyap Pandita and her sister, Meenakshi Pandita, a Government teacher besides their father Roshan Lal Pandita for drawing relief meant for the Kashmiri migrants despite being the Government servants.

They were booked vide FIR No. 27/2021 under Sections 420 and 12-B RPC.

Meanwhile, official sources said that the FIR was allegedly lodged at the behest of a JKPS officer namely Ramesh Kumar Bhat whose elevation as IPS officer was kept in abeyance given the pendency of FIR against him for harassing the JKAS officer through impersonation and other means.

They said that the JKPS officer Ramesh Kumar Bhat had also knocked the door of court against the FIR lodged against him by Neha Kashyap Pandita, JKAS officer, at Trikuta Nagar Police Station and got the challan proceedings stayed.

He was booked vide FIR No 269/20, under section 419 (cheating by impersonating), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 170 (impersonating as a public servant).

They said that the case is presently being investigated by the SDPO East.

“I have yet to come across the file pertaining to the case”, said recently appointed SDPO East Sajjad Sarwar.
