Jammu: The second edition of the Jammu Film Festival is going to be held in the month of March next year, it was announced here.
Speaking to the media, Ex-Deputy Chairman, Secretary to Board of Jawahar Lal Nehru Port Trust, Mumbai, Shiben Krishen Kaul here on Saturday said that the journey started on Saturday with the call for entries and will culminate into a two-day event during March 2022.
“It will be bigger and better compared to its predecessors held in 2019. We are committed to raise the bar with every edition and this year we have included feature films also in the competition, besides short films and documentaries,” said Mr Kaul, who was flanked by team of advisors and festival director Rohit Bhat
Mr Bhat said that there is a need to put Jammu on the world map for its potential with regards to arts in general and films in particular.
“With the successful first edition the Jammu film festival has already arrived on the circuit of international film festivals,” he said, adding, “after the success of the first edition in 2019 we were very excited to do the second edition in the following year but because of the pandemic we had to postpone it.”
“We didn’t want to do a virtual event because this festival is all about the people of Jammu and Kashmir region on the whole. Doing it virtually would have taken away its sheer essence for the lack of participation of people of Jammu and Kashmir and the enthusiasm on the ground that we got to see in 2019.”, said the Director.
Another advisor, Sanjay Saraf said that such initiatives need to be encouraged in JK which will channelize youth in a positive direction while bringing name and fame to the city at the same time.
