Jammu to be host spot of week-long cultural, sports, adventurous activities from Oct 23 to 29
Jammu: The Jammu Division of the Union Territory will be the host spot for week-long cultural, sports, adventurous and other activities from October 23 to 29 as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (India @75) to give a boost to the tourism sector.
However, Jammu Divisional Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer on Saturday also reviewed the arrangements being put in place to celebrate Iconic Week Festivals - here at a meeting with officers concerned.
As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (India @75), the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has planned to celebrate Iconic Week Festivals in the Union Territory from October 23 till October 29. The initiative is also aimed at boosting the economic and tourism activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Various activities have been finalized to be held in the different districts/ tourist destinations which include cultural programs, literary fests, food festivals, sports events, talent hunt shows, illuminations of parks, bike rallies, Sham E Ghazal, Golf Tournament, Bollywood nights, local cuisine festivals, exhibitions, etc.
The Divisional Commissioner discussed activities and the concerned nodal department apprised about the arrangements being put in place by their respective department.
He directed the Deputy Commissioners and Heads of concerned departments to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance for smooth conduct of the events.
He also instructed the officers to work in close coordination for making the occasion a grand success.
Earlier, the Div Com held a meeting with the President Chamber of Commerce, Presidents of Market associations, hotel associations, prominent citizens and sought their suggestions for organizing different activities.
All the invitees gave their valuable suggestions to make the Iconic Week Festivals a memorable event.
